Biography
Brian Hatch, a self-taught printmaker, held his first exhibition of screenprints at the Reid Gallery and began teaching printmaking privately at the Royal Queensland Art Society. He studied printmaking at the Pratt Centre in the United States in 1966. In 1978 Hatch, with the assistance of a Visual Arts Board grant, established the Printmakers’ Gallery and Workshop at Indooroopilly, Brisbane, with the aim of fostering an understanding of printmaking in Queensland. He held classes in various techniques, established a local printmaking group and held regular print exhibitions. These comprised works by Australian and overseas artists and included etchings from Czechoslovakia and woodblock prints from Japan.
