Hans Westermann

 

Hans Westermann was born in Switzerland in 1944, arriving in Australia in 1967, and in 1970 worked for sculptor Tom Bass (born 1916) and painter Margo Lewers (1908-78). He moved to the country in 1971 and started to produce carved toys, wooden sculpture and wooden spoons. Self-taught as a woodcraftsman he is based near Wingham, New South Wales and has exhibited his work since 1977.
