Abstract

This exhibition features etchings from the MRAG Collection created by Paul Partos, a Czech born, Australian, abstract artist who participated in two of Australia’s landmark exhibitions of Australian abstract art: The Field, 1968 and Fieldwork: Australian Art 1968–2002, 2003.

This series of etchings, acquired in 2016 with the assistance of the artist’s estate, demonstrate Partos’ examination of the physical and conceptual limits of the square and rectangle, which was a major characteristic of his painting.
